Event: Cape Forchu Historic Walking Tour
Tue, Jul 26, 2016
Come and explore Cape Forchu scenic vista while learning its unique history of progressing technology, shipwrecks, pirates and committed individuals who have kept it alive for 175 years. Patrons of the tour will be guided by the late Thomas S. Doane, the light keeper at Cape Forchu from 1904 to 1922. Thomas Doane gave his life to the lighthouse, passing away only 6 months after his retirement. However, Mike Cunningham, grandson of Herb Cunningham, is more than qualified to take on Thomas's persona and share his story. The tour will explore the exterior of our renowned apple-core lighthouse, the light keepers' residence (which is now a museum, gift shop and tea room), and the Leif Erickson walking trail. Purchase of the tour comes with an information booklet about Lighthouse history that will be referenced during tour and can be taken home to show your friends! The tour runs approximately 45 minutes long. Reserving a spot on the tour is not required, but in order to ensure availability we ask that you call, email or message us on Facebook.
