The Exhibition was an opportunity for the farming community to come together to show off their hard work and compete against each other. Competitions included 1st Prize in Showmanship, Best Handmade Item, Best Apple Pie, and much more. The Exhibition was a time to have fun and engage the local community in farming. A value that has remained true for the Exhibition to this day.

August 17th – 22nd 2015, the Cape Breton Exhibition will be celebrating it’s 99th year of operation. This is our opportunity to showcase agriculture, and to bring farming to the community. The Exhibition has always been well-received by the public . For many, it is their only opportunity to see livestock up close. The exhibition is partially sponsored by the Department of Agriculture.

The CB Exhibition features many events over the week including:

Hinchey’s Rides & Amusements We’ve got “Star Trooper, Tornado, Octopus, Rocko, Tilt a Whirl, games, cotton candy and best of all for the wee ones we have the merry go round!”

Dairy Farmer’s of Canada – Moonica, Dairy Farmers of Canada’s life-size mechanical cow, is a hit with kids and unlike any other program. The From Farm to Table Crew engages with children by allowing them to ‘milk’ the cow and receive a sticker as well as hand out colouring sheets as a fun activity. The Crew consists of three specially trained individuals. Families can also enjoy a short video on milk production and life on a farm.

Tess Carrigan is a young singer/songwriter from Port Caledonia, Nova Scotia. Tess performs a blend of Celtic, Folk, and Country Music with guitarist Stephen Allen. Her set list offers a mix of original material, and covers of popular songs from regions such as; Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, Scotland, and Ireland.

The Men of The Deeps is a choir of working and retired coal miners from Cape Breton. Organized in 1966 as part of Cape Breton’s contribution to Canada’s Centennial Year 1967, the group’s inception was an effort by the people of Cape Breton to preserve in song some of the rich folklore of the island's coal mining communities.

Rug Hooking is both an art and a craft where rugs are made by pulling loops of yarn or fabric through a stiff woven base such as burlap, linen or rug warp. The loops are pulled through the backing material by using a crochet type hook mounted in a handle. The following are some of the local rug hooking groups in Cape Breton: Spanish Bay Friendship Matters; Down East Rug Hookers; Boularderie; Old Schoolhouse Rug Hookers and Country Lane Studio

Chainsaw Artist - The art of chainsaw carving is a fast-growing form of art that combines the modern technology of the chainsaw with the ancient art of woodcarving. Come on and watch the woodchips fly with chainsaw artist Daniel Playford on Wednesday and Saturday.

Paul: Magician/escape artist/ illusionist - The very young in the audience will be enthralled by an hour-long magic show with illusionist Paul Naas of Sydney River.

Serpentine Reptile Zoo has been operating under almost two decades of experience in handling & educating the public at large regarding the various exotic reptile species which are sometimes kept as pets. Serpentine Reptile Zoo provides the highest quality of reptile presentations & reptile adoption centers as to be the only provincially accredited mobile reptile zoo in Cape Breton! This standing within the community allows us to carry all necessary insurance & permits required to educate the public regarding these fascinating animals. Our current list of a list celebrity reptiles currently includes: Puff - Savannah Monitor, Franklin - Eastern Box Turtle, Rex - Bearded Dragon (All the way from Australia, mate!) And of course the star of our zoo: Butter - Burmese Python (rescued from the wilds of New Brunswick after being abandoned).

Food Court Concessions Include: Subway, Bruce's Canteen, Scotsburn Ice Cream (Flurries, Slushies, Sundaes, Frozen Yogurt), Bianchini’s Pizzeria, & Mian’s Delicious East Indian Food!

4-H Canteen will be open for Breakfast @ 9:00AM

4-H Canteen open until 10:00PM Monday to Friday Saturday 9:00AM-9:00PM
