Package: Goat Soap? A Soap Making Workshop
Mon, May 30, 2016 to Sun, Oct 30, 2016
Nestled in the heart of the Acadian community of Clare lies the picturesque Spring Peeper Farm, where owner Lisa Doucette is dedicated to making the best goat's milk soap possible.
After searching to no avail for a soap that would suit her sensitive skin, Lisa decided to make her own. It helped that her two Alpine goats were producing way more milk than her family could possibly drink.
After finding and tweaking a recipe, she started giving homemade soaps to friends and co-workers. It wasn't long before people started asking for soap for family and friends. She also started selling her soap in local stores. Her best seller is oatmeal and honey.
So, come on over to the farm and try your hand at making soap for yourself. You'll start with a meet and greet over a quick cup of tea, before heading over to meet the "girls", Azelle and Maggie that supply the milk and love attention.
You'll then learn about and try your hand at basic soap making.
Your experience will take two hours and includes all the equipment and clothing needed to make soap, as well as a soap gift. You'll also leave with your new knowledge of soap making and memories of new friends, the two and four legged variety!!
The experience is offered:
• Monday to Friday at 6:30pm
• Saturday at 10:00am, 1:00pm and 4:00pm
• Sunday at 1:00pm and 4:00pm
Price is $55 per person
Classes are small and personalized, with groups of 2-4 people. As you will be working with high heat and caustic materials, there is a minimum age of 14 years old.
