Package: Celtic Music Demonstrations
Wed, Jun 22, 2016 to Sun, Oct 9, 2016
Learn the basics of Cape Breton's unique Celtic music and culture in a one-on-one session with our professional in-house fiddler. Our fiddler will cover topics such as the influence of Highland bagpiping, stepdancing and the Gaelic language on the Cape Breton fiddle style and how they are all interwoven within Cape Breton's Gaelic/Celtic culture. Learn what a "cut" is in fiddling lingo, what a Ceilidh means, what the musical culture was like decades ago and what it's like now, learn to identify the different types of tunes commonly played such as marches, strathspeys, jigs and reels as our fiddler plays and explains them to you, learn a dance step, some Gaelic greetings and ask away with any questions you may have!
It's a fun way to learn all the basics to help you better understand and enjoy Cape Breton's music during your visit to Nova Scotia. To dealve even deeper, take a tour through our Interactive Exhibit Room afterwards!
