Package: Seafaring and Seafood: A lobster boat adventure
Tue, Jun 14, 2016 to Wed, Sep 7, 2016
Join the LeBlanc brothers – Lucien and Simon – for a seafaring journey on a working fishing boat, complete with fresh seafood chowder and the opportunity to get hands-on with a real-life lobster!
The beautiful Tusket Islands are your destination. Accessible only by water and located off the coast of Southwest Nova Scotia, the islands have a storied heritage of shipwrecks and pirates. Today, they are home to some of Nova Scotia’s premiere fishing grounds, where families like the LeBlancs have made a living for generations.
You’ll travel on board the John Harold, named in honour of Simon and Lucien’s grandfather. On your way, you can haul a live lobster trap and see first-hand the hard work that goes in to every catch. The LeBlancs will keep you entertained with live music and lively stories about both their careers as fishermen and proud Acadian heritage.
When you arrive, you’ll visit the LeBlanc’s private fishing shanty before feasting on homemade seafood chowder made from a family recipe passed down for generations.
