“History That Stirs The Imagination”… the motto of the Cumberland County Museum and Archives pays a rightful but possibly underestimated tribute to the holdings within our archives. Cumberland County Museum and Archives include approximately 1400 rolled maps, which detail many areas of Cumberland County; Insurance maps, hand drawn maps and land grants are just a few examples in our collection. Our photographic anthology numbers over 4,500 pictures ranging in topics spanning the early 1900’s to present day. The social and industrial heritage of Cumberland County is a key facet of our collection. This includes: personal ledgers, diaries, bibles, accounts of the early days of Cumberland County and newspaper articles which make history come alive from the ground up.
