The Historic Farmers’ Market is located in downtown Halifax’s Brewery Square within the Alexander Keith's Brewery. Stroll though a 200-year-old historic building and get to know your local, small-scale farmers, artisans and crafters in a traditional market atmosphere. A few of our vendors have been bringing their product to market in the Brewery Square for over 28 years!
At the market, you will find fresh, local vegetables year-round, along with herbs, flowers, free-range & cured meats, fresh fish, tofu, cheese, eggs, bread & baked goods (gluten-free also), maple products, chocolate, coffee, and spices.
Adorn yourself with locally-made designer jewelry or knit-wear, nourish your skin and hair with natural soap and body care products, wrap yourself up in a comfy wool duvet, or treat yourself to wood furniture and products hand-crafted by Nova Scotian artisans.
Give yourself a break – sit and enjoy a tea, coffee or latte and eat breakfast or lunch with us. Choose from Mexican, Polish, Asian, or any one of our health-conscious food vendors whose meals are made slowly from scratch. We even have two gourmet health food trucks on site. If you’re in a hurry, grab something delicious prepared for take-home meals.
At our market, we’re community-oriented, family-friendly and we have a very relaxed atmosphere. As you go from room-to-room you may hear the sounds of folk music, traditional Asian violin, and even live piano playing.
We have two free parking lots off Bishop Street, so come on down. We’d love to meet you!
