Brenda's Place to Stay Bed & Breakfast overlooks Pictou Harbour in the beautiful Northumberland Shore region of Nova Scotia. The Town of Pictou is renowned as the "Birthplace of New Scotland" as it was here that the first wave of Scottish immigrants landed in 1773. It is also home to the ship Hector , the vessel that sailed from Scotland and arrived on these shores.
Guests can visit the Hector Exhibit Centre and Archives, a commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the landing of the Ship Hector . It hosts a range of exhibits, and is part of the Pictou County Genealogy and Heritage Society.
The Jitney Trail begins along the waterfront in Pictou and follows the abandoned rail line west around Norway Point and under the causeway to Browns Point. The trail runs along the shoreline of Pictou Harbour and is ideal for hiking and has an open picnic area that is used as an outside rink during the winter months.
