Irwin Lakes Chalets are nestled in a small farming community of lush, rolling fields along the Minas Basin in the Bay of Fundy and Annapolis Valley region of Nova Scotia. Open 12 months of the year, Irwin Lakes Chalets is only minutes from restaurants, shops and festivals, a scenic day trip away from serious outdoor adventure or less adrenaline-filled recreational pursuits. We offer the perfect setting for a family vacation, a quiet weekend escape or a romantic Nova Scotia getaway.
Several museums, numerous shopping malls, craft shops and picturesque Victoria Park are only eight minutes away in the town of Truro. A twenty-minute drive along the nearby Trans Canada Highway can place the avid outdoor enthusiast in a kayak in the Bay of Fundy or clinging to a Zodiac on a Tidal Bore Rafting Park tour of the Shubenacadie River.
Follow the Glooscap Trail to Parrsboro and explore the shores of the Minas Basin: fossil-hunting can reveal the remains of ancient plants or sea creatures that once inhabited the region. Further along the Glooscap Trail is the Cape d'Or Lighthouse, one of the most spectacular and most photographed lighthouses in Nova Scotia.
Our accommodations include six cozy log chalets by the water (queen- and king-sized beds, sofa-bed; 1-bedroom with loft, 2-bedroom, honeymoon suite), with 4-piece baths, a woodstove and country furnishings. Television and VCR are available, as is a barbecue. Guests have complete access to our outdoor retreat including the use of canoes, paddle boats, the stocked fish pond and other facilities. There are miles of roads and well-marked trails to explore and the on-site Loughhead Family Demonstration Forest is a fun way to learn about the trees and vegetation of Nova Scotia.
